James "Buddy" Douglas Downey

James “Buddy” Douglas Downey, 85, of Lynchburg, passed away Sunday, May 16, 2021 at Heartland Health Care Center.
Born October 26, 1935, Buddy was the son of the late Moses Cooper Downey and Nellie Kelly Downey and was also preceded in death by his siblings and the love of his life, Janice Campbell. He was a retired machinist with Allen Morrison.
Buddy is survived by three “daughters”, Virginia Campbell, Rebecca Perdue, and Shelby Campbell, all of Lynchburg and three young men, he thought of as sons, Thomas Lee McKinney, Robert Perdue, and Richard Coleman. He is also survived by a special dog, Sadie Bella and a special bird, Ember.
A private graveside service will be held at Fort Hill Memorial Park with Carol Tyree officiating.
