James P. “Perry” Burnett, Jr. passed away on Sunday, February 20, 2022 at his residence.
He was born on December 29, 1955 in Lynchburg and was the son of Patricia S. Casey and the late James Burnett, Sr. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his wife, Karen Burnett; his brother, Randall M. Burnett and step-father Charles “Chuck” Casey.
Perry served in the United States Army and spent time in Germany and Texas. After his time in the Army, he was an owner/operator of his own trucking business which was a joy and not a job.
He is survived by his sisters, Lisa Childress (Bennie), Stephanie Cannon (Joe) and his brothers Tony Burnett and Chris Casey. He is also survived by his nieces Samena Falwell (David), Lindsey Watts (Ryker), Catie Crank; a nephew Brian Smith; great-nieces Kaylin Smith, Caylee Mae Craft, Isabella Falwell; great-nephews Ethan Smith, Wyatt Falwell; and good friends Frankie Martin and Tom Fuller (thank you both for watching out for him).
