Jacqueline Brumfield Seeling, 82, of Lynchburg passed from this life to the next on Sunday, February 25, 2018, at her residence. Jackie was born in Marion County, MS, on September 10, 1935, to the late Virgil Clarence Brumfield and the late Myrtle Forbes Brumfield.
Jackie attended school in Magnolia, MS, where she excelled in music. There wasn’t an instrument she couldn’t play, “Except the reeds.” She loved Elvis Presley, dancing, playing the piano and being a majorette. After high school graduation, she continued her education at Spencer Business College in New Orleans. Her first job was at Wesson Oil Company as a secretary and bookkeeper. She also worked as a legal secretary after graduation. During college she had a chance meeting on a bus with a handsome young Navy man. It was love at first sight for both, and she married Norbert Mellier Seeling of Jefferson Parish, Louisiana, on February 18, 1956.
Jackie loved being a Navy wife, and a mother, and years later a grandmother and great grandmother. She loved her family above all else. She is a proud breast cancer survivor of 15 years. Jackie loved to stay active, taking classes at the “Y” like water aerobics and yoga, and having lunch and visiting with all her friends. Her smile lit up the darkest of rooms.
Jackie is survived by her beloved husband of 62 years, Norbert; her children; Dale Terrence Seeling (Dee), Marcia Darlene Seeling Dunn (Ron), Darryl Gance Seeling (Lori) and Trina Danielle Seeling Hackensmith (Bill); her nieces: Wendy Franks Naquin (Clark) and Nettie Elizabeth Seeling Sherwin (Bob); and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first baby girl, her parents, and her younger sister, Geraldine Brumfield Franks.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Centra Hospice and Home Instead for their excellent care, and to all her friends who did so much with their thoughtfulness.
