Ida Campbell Almond

Ida Campbell Almond, 83, of Lynchburg, died Friday, December 24, 2010 at Guggenheimer Nursing Home. She was the wife of the late John Thomas Almond, Jr. Born January 13, 1927 in Amherst County, she was the daughter of the late James Claude Campbell and Madgie Campbell Campbell.
Mrs. Almond was a retired sales clerk for A.H. Robbins and a member of Centenary United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Rebekah Lodge #22 of Madison Heights.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Almond is preceded in death by six brothers, Harold, Gordon, Rodger, Harmon, Robert and Alfred Campbell and one sister, Margaret Cash.
Mrs. Almond is survived by two sisters, Naomi C. Jefferson and her husband Marvin of Madison Heights and Helen C. Hunter of Lynchburg; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel conducted by Rev. C. Douglas Pillow. Interment will follow at Liberty Cemetery in Appomattox.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to service from 10:00-11:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
