Hazel Rice Ballowe, 81, of Lynchburg, passed away, Saturday, July 2, 2011 at Runk & Pratt Residential Adult Care in Forest. She was the wife of the late Vernon D. Ballowe.
Born November 15, 1929 in Halifax County, she was the daughter of the late Luther C. and Margie Millner Rice and was also preceded in death by a sister, Betty Deakins. Mrs. Ballowe was a retired salesperson and a member of Marsh Memorial United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Ballowe is survived by one daughter, Judy Viar and husband, Phillip; one son, David Ray Ballowe, both of Evington; three brothers, Donald Rice and wife, Ellen of Kentucky, Joseph Rice and wife, Shirley of Rustburg, and Pete Rice and wife, Susan of Evington; four sisters, Barbara Kruger and husband, Gary, of Jacksonville, FL; Faye Maxie and husband, Wayne of Simpsonville, SC, Lyn Sanders of Rustburg, and Tina Andrews and husband, Scott of Lynchburg and two grandchildren, Stephanie Ballowe and Greg Viar and wife, Leah.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
