Harry Lee St. John Jr., 77 of Lynchburg, passed away October 12, 2010. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Bertie Mabe St. John.
Born November 17, 1932, in Charlotte County, he was the son of the late Harry Lee St. John, Sr. and Nellie Dickerson St. John.
Mr. St. John was retired from the Lynchburg Police Dept., after 37 years of service, and was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, in Lynchburg. He was a United States Army Korean war veteran and was a faithful member of Beulah Baptist Church. He was active in his community, and loved to help others.
Survivors also include two daughters, Valerie Lindner and husband Donald Lindner Jr., of Lynchburg, and Kathie Avital and husband Rafi, of Merrimack, New Hampshire; his granddaughter, JoAnn Lindner, other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends Friday, October 15, 2010, from 6-8:00 p.m. at Whitten Timberlake Chapel, and at other times at the residence.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 16, 2010, at Beulah Baptist Church, by the Rev. Maurice T. McCarthy, Jr.. Interment will follow in Fort Hill Memorial Park.
Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to Beulah Baptist Church.
