Obituary of George Rothel Huffman Jr.
Geroge Rothel Huffman, Jr., of Madison Heights, passed away on Wednesday, January 26, 2022. He was born in Madison Heights on December 1, 1923, son of the late George Huffman, Sr. and the late Josie Christine Ramirez Huffman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his cherished companion of 50 years Annie Weber, and his cousins Lewis Vest and L.M. (Tony) Anthony. Mr. Huffman was a lifelong resident of Madison Heights, Virginia, attended Fairview Christian Church and was a high school graduate of Madison Heights High School. He joined the Army after high school and fought valiantly in World War II, receiving a Purple Heart. After the war, he began training at the Remington machine factory in Elmira, New York, and later at the Olivetti Schools and became an Office Machine Technician, the occupation in which he worked for over 50 years. He worked at the Brown-Morrison Company in Lynchburg as an Office Machine Technician for 30 years. He was a member of the American Legion and was proud to be a Veteran. He enjoyed many hobbies including fishing and hunting, collecting assorted items that he took interest in and spending time with family and friends. George Huffman was a very special person who loved his friends and family above all else. He was a very generous and caring person and was a loyal friend. He was always more concerned with making sure those around him were taken care of, while having little concern for himself. He was quick to laugh and took joy in the happiness of others. His surviving relatives include his cousins Suzanne Anthony Roach (and husband Andy Roach and children Zachary and Alyssa), Michael Anthony (and wife Shonna Anthony and children Noah, Kendell, and Emerson) and Nathan Anthony, as well as the children of Ms. Annie Weber, Dorothy Weber Hall (and her husband Dennis Hall) and David Weber (and his wife Betty Weber). A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, January 31, 2022 at Fort Hill Memorial Park with Pastor Dennis Hall officiating
