Born August 6, 1921 in Halifax County, he was the son of the late John D. McDaniel and Daisy Dalton Padgett. Mr. McDaniel was a retired Security Guard with Lynchburg Foundry and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He enjoyed gardening and attended Thomas Road Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife, Mr. McDaniel is survived by a son, Eugene E. “Butch” McDaniel (Peggy Burton); his daughter, Cecil Ann Morris and husband Howard “Woody” Morris, both of Lynchburg; two grandchildren, Robert E. McDaniel and wife Amy and Marvin James “M.J.” Penny, III; two great grandchildren, Caitlyn and Gabriel McDaniel; and a faithful niece, Doris Wright.
A graveside service will be held at 1 pm on Thursday, February 25, 2016 at the mausoleum Chapel of Fort Hill Memorial Park, with Pastor David Heerspink officiating. Military honors will be presented by the American Legion.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm on Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel.
