Edith Smoot Smith

Edith Mae Smoot Smith, 85, of Lynchburg, passed away on Wednesday, March 1, 2023 at Runk and Pratt Assisted Living. Born on June 18, 1937 in Lynchburg, she was the daughter of the late Emmett W. Smoot and Elizabeth T. Smoot. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Ralph W. Smith, Sr. and a son, Neal T. Smith. Edith loved animals, specifically her dogs and giraffes. She was a supporter of Animal Adventure Park in New York and often watched the giraffes on the park’s website or on television. She was an avid reader and loved books. She is survived by her sons, Ralph W. Smith, Jr. (Unchu), Emmett L. Smith (Diane), William C. Smith (Linda); grandchildren, Ted George (Patty), James George, Samuel Smith (Kerri), Trevor Smith; great-grandchildren, Tyler Sprigg, Sydney George and Rhyatt Smith and cousin, Bob Rosser (Robin). The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 5, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. at Whitten Timberlake Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Animal Adventure Park, 1250 Front Street #219, Binghamton, NY 13901.
