Born in Lynchburg, she was the daughter of the late Ferman Lawson Maddox and the late Lena Millner Maddox. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Kevin W. Patterson and one brother, Calvin Maddox.
Doris was a retired employee of Paktron Corp. and a former employee of General Electric Corp. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
She is survived by one son, Robert G. Patterson, Jr. and his wife, Teresa, of Lynchburg; two sisters Iris M. Cawthorne and her husband, Pete, of Appomattox and Brenda M. Tibbs and her husband, R.A., of Forest and three grandchildren, Jesse Patterson, Julie Patterson and Amber Zubrinitz.
A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m., Saturday, November 10, 2012, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel. The family will receive friends after the service. Interment will follow at a later date in Fort Hill Memorial Park.
