David Allan Harmon, 73, of Lynchburg, passed away Wednesday, February 8, 2023 at Salem Veterans Hospital. David was born on December 16, 1949 in High Point, NC. He was the son of the late James Dolan Harmon and the late Elise Noell Harmon.
He is survived by one daughter, Shana Harmon Edwards and her husband David; a granddaughter, Jillian and a grandson Ethan, of Duvall, Washington; three sisters, Elizabeth Harmon “Liz” McAdams and her husband Bill of Salisbury, NC, Mary Alice Harmon Anthony of Paducah, KY, and Martha Harmon “Marty” Cothran and her husband Jim of Concord and one brother, James Dennis Harmon and his wife Donna of Concord. He is also survived by nine nieces and nephews.
David was in the Boy Scouts, played football for the Vista Acres Raiders, enjoyed playing the guitar and harmonica, loved the Beatles and he loved fishing. He was selfless, compationate, and supportive to elderly neighbors. He had a great personality and was always cracking jokes or making witty/funny wisecracks.
He served two years active duty in the United States Navy on the USS PENSACOLA LSD-38 and four years in the naval reserves.
David "Davey" worked at All Seasons Marine for more than 20 years as a Marine Technician, until he retired in 2011. He had a deep love and appreciation of the water and loved working on the water crafts.
The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m. Thursday, February 16, 2023 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel, 7404 Timberlake Road, Lynchburg, VA, 24502.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, February 17, 2023 at the Virginia Veterans Cemetery in Amelia, VA.

David was preceded in death by his parents, James Dolan Harmon and the late Elise Noell Harmon.
