Christine Cofer Padgett

Christine Virginia Cofer Padgett, 89, of Lynchburg passed away Saturday, October 29, 2011 at Lynchburg General Hospital. She was the wife of the late Paige H. Padgett.
Born in Lynchburg, February 7, 1922, she was a daughter of the late Cary P. Cofer and Catherine Shafer Cofer. She was a 1940 graduate of New London Academy, retired from Leggett department store, a former member of the Women of the Moose #715 and a member of Forest Road United Methodist Church for over 69 years.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Cary P. Cofer, Jr. and Sterling B. Cofer; two sisters, Ruth C. Wood and Mildred C. Arthur and her son in law, Owen W. “Butch” Coleman.
She is survived by one dauther, Peggy P. Coleman of Lynchburg, one son, Howard L. Padgett and Nancy of Florida; three grandchildren, Tina M. Tyree, David W. Mitchell and Tammy P. Holmes; four great grandchildren and two sisters in law, Mable L. Cofer and Dorothy Y. Cofer both of Lynchburg.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 1, 2011 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel with the Rev. John Kinnard officiating. Interment will follow in Fort Hill Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
