Born in Big Stone Gap, November 23, 1940, he was the son of the late Vince Bell Crowell and Valeria Olinger Crowell. He was retired from the Lynchburg Foundry after 36 years of service. Charlie had a passion for playing pool and would play any chance he could. He also loved to fish and enjoyed cutting wood. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and great grandfather.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by four sons, Breck Crowell and wife Sabrina of Lynchburg, Jeffrey Crowell and wife Wendy of Gladys, Wayne Crowell and Jamie Crowell both of Lynchburg; four daughters, Kimberly Wrenn and husband Joe of Madison Heights, Leslie Murphy and husband Jimmy and Deanna Burton and husband Bill all of Lynchburg and Ruby Shepherd and husband Frank of Madison Heights; one brother, Billy Crowell and wife Rosie of Baltimore, MD; one sister, Becky Flippo and husband Ray of Daytona Beach, FL; 20 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren and his best friends Cecil and Betty Jennings.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 15, 2016 at Fort Hill Memorial Park with Celebrant Polly Starnes officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Thursday, January 14, 2016 at the funeral home and at other times at the residence.
The family requests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society.
