Catherine Ann Almond St. John

On Wednesday evening, October 10, 2018, God sent his angels down from heaven down to Catherine Ann Almond St. John, 78, and carried her to heaven to be reunited with her loved ones. She was married to Bobbie C. St. John for over 61 years.

Born on January 4, 1940 in Lynchburg, VA, she was the fifth child born to the late William H. Almond, Sr. and Carrie Brooks Almond. She was retired from General Electric/Ericsson, where she worked for over 30 years. She was a member of Fairview Christian Church, where she volunteered many years with the Christian Women’s Fellowship preparing and serving meals to the local Community on Tuesday nights and also to various groups in Lynchburg.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers, William H. Almond, Jr. and James H. Almond; a sister, Earlene Almond Cooper; sisters-in-law, Catherine Stump Almond, Frances St. John and Florence McKinney, and brothers-in-law, Warren St. John and Waddell St. John.

In addition to her husband she is survived by her son, Keith Wayne St. John of Wytheville; a brother, Fred Almond; sisters-in-law, Delores Almond, Virginia Noblin, Joyce Marshall, Reba St. John and Joyce St. John; and brothers-in-law, Bill St. John and Wayne St. John (Wanda). She is also survived by a God- Son, Chad Gillette; a devoted friend, Susan Hartless; her dog, Blackie, and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of her life will be held on Monday, October 15, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Fairview Christian Church with Pastor Curtis Wheeler and the Rev. Gary Vernon officiating. Interment will follow at Spring Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
