Atwell "Bunny" Luther Carpenter Jr.

Atwell Luther “Bunny” Carpenter, Jr., 103, of Pleasant View passed away Thursday, May 6, 2021, at Runk and Pratt Nursing Home. He was the husband of the late Alice Major Carpenter. Born April 8, 1918, in Clover Lick, WV, he was the son of the late Atwell Luther Carpenter, Sr. and the late Mary Moore Carpenter.
Bunny was a retired maintenance worker for the Lynchburg Foundry where he worked for 40 years. He served our country in the U.S. Army during World War II, where he was an airplane mechanic and a sniper rifleman.
In addition to his wife and parents, Bunny was preceded in death by two sisters.
Bunny is survived by a nephew, a niece, his loving friends and caretaker, Donald Brown.
A graveside service will be conducted 11:00 a.m., Monday, May 10, 2021, at Fort Hill Memorial Park. Military Honors will be presented by the American Legion Post 16.
