Richard is survived by his wife Jeannelle of 43 years, his 5 childern, 15 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, 6 step-children, 10 step-grandchildren, 4 out of 13 siblings, and extended family with a host of nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents Lawrence and Harriet Murphy, ex-wife Barbara Heun Murphy P(?) and, siblings; Mary, Bill, Peggy (Margaret), Jack, Jim, Harry, Dorothy, Thomas, and Robert.
Orginally from Youngstown, Ohio, Richard moved to New Jersey to attend Hillside High School. He joined the Navy in 1951, and was honorably discharged in 1954. While living in New Jersey he owned and operated a HVAC company and raised his family with his first wife. In 1974 Richard moved to LA (Louisiana?) where he met Jeannelle, who will become his wife of 43 years.
He was an avid golfer and dancer. Richard loved to dance so much he became a ballroom and country line dance instructor. His love for golf led him to be involved in the Hillsdale Golf Course Community. Along with his involvement in dancing and golf, he was also an active member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic church, The Knights of Columbus and volunteered at the Red Cross.
Services to celebrate his life are being held on Sunday October 23rd, 2022 from 2:30pm to 3:30pm at White Funeral Home in Lumberton, MS (102 N 1st St, Lumberton, MS 39455). His burial will be the following day on Monday October 24th, 2022 at 2:30pm at the Biloxi National Cemetery in Biloxi, MS (400 Veterans Ave, Biloxi, MS 39531).
