Funeral services for Samuel Ollie Blair, Jr., 74, of Apple Springs, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, April 15, 2019 in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel in Lufkin. Interment will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Apple Springs. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday evening at Gipson Funeral Home.
Mr. Blair was born October 13, 1944 in Houston, Texas to the late Sam and Wanda Blair, Sr. He passed away on April 12, 2019 in Lufkin, Texas. He was preceded in death by his son, Tommy Glenn Blair. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and then served in law enforcement for 32 years. He was an avid motorcyclist, and enjoyed touring the United States. One of his favorite stops was the beautiful Smokey Mountains. Sam was a licensed evangelist and enjoyed sharing God’s message from the scriptures.
Mr. Blair is survived by his wife of 56 years, Patricia Blair of Apple Springs, formerly Lufkin; son and daughter-in-law, Rod and Jeri Blair of Groveton; son, Patrick Blair and fiancé Marissa Hecker of Apple Springs; followed by his grandchildren, Aaron and Autumn, Seth, Hannah, Chasity, and Chase Blair; and two great-granddaughters, Justice and Addy Blair; sister, Glenda Meador of Apple Springs; along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends also survived Sam.
Mr. Blair will be escorted to his final resting place by pallbearers: Joe Mack Tanner, Blair Quinney, Warren Dale Oakley, Brett Gray, Dan “Buzzy” Rice, and Jimmy Blair.
Honorary pallbearers are Jim Saxton and all Blair grandchildren.
