Services for Roberta Byrd Warden, 92, of Lufkin, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 3, 2013 in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend Horace Fletcher officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.
Mrs. Warden was born August 13, 1920 in Beaumont, Mississippi, the daughter of the late Demaris (Herring) and Thee Onor Byrd. She passed away Tuesday, July 30, 2013 in a local hospital.
Mrs. Warden was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a retired LVN and liked to work. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, and baking. She was famous for her tomato gravy, the way Thee Onor liked it. She always remembered everyone’s birthdays with cards, and loved babies. She loved coffee…and was always looking for someone to drink coffee with. Mrs. Warden really enjoyed getting her hair fixed. She was a member of Herty Baptist Church for more than 30 years, and enjoyed her Ladies’ Rebekah Class at the church.
