Funeral services for Julia S. Smith, 90, of San Diego, California will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, December 31, 2023, in the Gipson Funeral Home chapel. Interment will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery.

Mrs. Smith was born April 12, 1933 in El Paso, Texas, the daughter to the late Guadalupe Morales and Pedro Gómez. She passed away Sunday, December 17, 2023 at her residence.

Julia was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved cooking, gardening, and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a longtime member of Hillcrest Baptist Church.

Survivors include her sons, Billy Smith and partner Chaz DeHerrera, of San Diego, Dennis Smith and wife Michelle of Orland, Maine, Gilbert Chacón and wife Lucinda, of El Paso, Frank Vallejo and wife Lupe of El Paso; numerous grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Billy Tom Smith; and brother and sisters.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon at the funeral home.
