John William Honeycutt, 70, of Lufkin, was born August 28, 1940 in Mathis, Texas, the son of the late Lucille (Davis) and Troy Honeycutt, Sr. He passed away Thursday, December 30, 2010 in a local hospital.
Mr. Honeycutt was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was a family man and loved to spend time with his children and grandchildren. He was an avid reader and enjoyed watching John Wayne movies. He was a retired master electrician. Mr. Honeycutt served his country in the United States Navy.
Survivors include his wife, Freda Honeycutt; sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Cindy Honeycutt, James and Jill Honeycutt and Ivan and Angela Honeycutt; stepson, Jeff Sullivan; stepdaughter, Darla Ford; stepsons and their wives, Melvin and Teresa Parker and Steven and Julie Sullivan; grandsons, Brian Honeycutt, Trevor Honeycutt, and Jaydon Honeycutt (who is expected to arrive soon); 5 step-granddaughters; 3 step-grandsons; 1 great grandson; 1 great granddaughter; brothers and sisters-in-law, Troy and Barbara Honeycutt and Kenneth and Terry Honeycutt; and a number of other family members.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Honeycutt was preceded in death by his first wife, Judy Honeycutt.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Sullivan, Steve Sullivan, Melvin Parker, J. C. Conner, Jr., Jonathan Ray, Ricky Rojas, Drayton Solly, Jr. and Timothy Solly.
Services for Mr. Honeycutt will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, January 3, 2011 in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend R. G. "Bud" Davis officiating. Interment will follow in the Berry Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Sunday evening at Gipson Funeral Home.
