Denita was born March 18, 1956 in Lufkin, TX to the late Fannie Bell (Permenter) and Jacob Samuel Smith she went home to be her Lord and Savior on Sunday, September 17, 2023.
Denita was a lifelong resident of Lufkin, she was a member of Harmony Hill Baptist Church, participated in the Church Choir and work with the 4 years old class during Sunday school.
She worked as a Nurse Aide at Woodland Heights and Memorial Hospital (St. Luke’s CHI) also at the Lufkin State School (Lufkin State Supported Living Center)
She loved her family and pets. She was a caregiver at heart and her main goal was to take care of family, friends, and her pet. She volunteered with East Texas Paws Rescue and Sanctuary and she loved every minute that she was there among her four-legged friends.
She graduated from Lufkin High School 1974.

(Page) Crawford Wood, of Lufkin, Linda Darlene Smith of Lufkin; brother, Roger Dale and wife Emma Page of Huntington; nephew, James Arthur Wood of South Carolina and children, Jadyn and Jacson Wood of Liberty, TX; niece, Brandi Wood of Liberty, TX, niece, Karen Crawford and children, Tyler Hatt, Laura Lee Crawford Byerly and husband Blake of Lufkin, niece, Krista Reule Anderson and husband Anthony and children Presley and Anthony Jr. of Huntington. Stephanie Crawford Hilton and husband Clint and children Crystal, Logan Hilton all of Lufkin, nephew, Matthew Crawford wife Jennifer and children Savannah, Matthew Jr. of Lufkin, niece, Cassie Diana Crawford of Conroe, TX, Jennifer Page Coker and daughter Ashley Coker Markovich and husband Eric of Jacksonville, FL, nephew, Michael Page of Houston, TX and children Jason Page, Michelle Page Potterfield and husband Reed, Whitney Page, Aeryk T. Masters, all of Lufkin, TX; and numerous great-great nieces and nephews.
