Graveside services for Catherine Ann Emfinger Minshew, 68, of Lufkin, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 2, 2017 in the San Jacinto Gardens in Houston, Texas, with Bro. Gary Forrest officiating.
Catherine Ann (GiGi) was born December 4, 1948 in Jonesville, Louisiana. She attended Highlands Elementary School and Robert E. Lee High School. She resided in Lufkin from October 1998 until she went to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 25, 2017.
Kathy was a long-time member of Parkview Baptist Church, where she really loved to worship the Lord. She loved her husband, children, and grandchildren very much. She worked for many years at A Piney Woods Services, where she had many friends and loved her job. Kathy was co-owner of Thompson’s Café in Lufkin, where she loved her customers and employees and met many new friends.
Kathy had many hobbies that she really loved, including camping and fishing. She had a knack for painting and crafts. She loved to read – we cannot really express how many books she had and read.
Catherine was preceded in death by her parents, Juanita (Tarver) and Virgle Emfinger; brother, Virgil Emfinger, Jr.; and two sisters, Jeanette Ryan and Nita Faye Gibson.
Survivors include her husband, William Lloyd Minshew; son, Jason Cook; daughter, Shannon Elizabeth Dohrman; stepson, Ragan Minshew; stepdaughter, Rachelle Durrett; grandsons, Justin Cook, Jarod Cook and Dustin Burkhart; granddaughter, Genivieve Dohrman; and many, many loved family and friends.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at Gipson Funeral Home.
