Services for Berlin Wayne James, 73, of Pollok, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 5, 2020 in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Randy Brown officiating. Interment will follow in the Fielder Memorial Cemetery.
Mr. James was born October 11, 1946 in Lufkin, Texas, the son of the late Vesta Mae Ashton and Berlin William James. He passed away Wednesday, July 29, 2020 at his residence.
Mr. James was a devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather, son and brother. He was a simple, giving man who loved to cook and fish. He loved dog and animals, especially Chihuahuas. You would never catch him without a cigarette in his mouth, dog in his lap and Hank Williams on the radio. He was in the Job Corp; that’s how he met his wife, Shirley Ann (Taylor).
Survivors include his son, Lyle Samuel “Sammy” James of Pollok; daughter, Eva Marie James of Reno, Nevada; sons, L. C. James of Lufkin and Walter Taylor of Weaverville, California; daughter, Jannetta Lamourt of Albuquerque, New Mexico; brothers, Bruce James and Freddie James, both of Lufkin; sisters, Bobbie Linda Burns of Huntington and Alison James of Trinity; 20 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and many extended family and friends.
In addition to his parents, Mr. James was preceded in death by his brothers, Charles James, Tony James and Donnie James; and sister, Carol James.
Pallbearers will be Richard James, Matthew Carpenter, Jesse Carpenter, Bruce James and Brent Hyde.
Mr. James’ family wishes to extend special thanks to Hospice in the Pines and his caregivers, Rhonda Thompson, Teresa Martin and Dan Cox for their loving care and all that they did for him.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
Services have been placed in the trust of Gipson Funeral Home.
