Services for Alma Bernice Jackson, 85, of Lufkin, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 14, 2014 in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel, with Harold Hancock and Tim Beamon officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.
Mrs. Jackson was born June 3, 1929 in Nacogdoches County, Texas, the daughter of the late Ira Mae (Norwood) and George Albert Fitzgerald. She passed away Monday, November 10, 2014 at her residence.
Mrs. Jackson was a loving wife, mother and Nan to the grandchildren. She was a good cook, enjoyed gardening and sewing. She was a “down to Earth” lady, never meeting a stranger. She was a member of Timberland Drive Church of Christ.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Pat and Butch Burts of Chester; son and daughter-in-law, John and Deborah Wall of Lufkin; daughter and son-in-law, Theresa and John Ruddick of Alvord; daughter, Carolyn Shiffer of Burnum; son and daughter-in-law, James A. and Loraine Wall of Chicago; son and daughter-in-law, Darrell D. and Julie Wall of Lufkin; 18 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Gladys Wall of Latexo; and son-in-law, Kenneth Winthrop of Lufkin.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Jackson was preceded in death by her first husband, Vaughan Wall, Sr.; second husband, Burtis Jackson in 1987; sons, Frankie Wall and Danny Wall; and daughter, Delores Winthrop.
Pallbearers will be Richard Ayers, Chad Richey, Monte Ramsey, Jerry Johnson, Joe Penn, and Reagan McClenny.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home.
