Steven Rampy

Lubbock born and bred, Steve graduated from Monterey High School 1965, Texas Tech University and Wayland Baptist University with degrees in sociology and criminal justice. For 25 years, Steve touched many lives serving as the first director of Lubbock County Correctional Facility. In the last six years, Steve worked as a realtor until diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor.

Steve was an avid artist, photographer, music lover and Red Raider supporter. He was active in many Christian ministries including the ACTS community, RCIA, Engaged Encounter, DivorceCare, Knights of Columbus, and Catholic Charities. As a member of Merry Go Round dance club and a laugh yoga instructor, Steve’s love of life was contagious.

Steve was preceded in death by parents Dorothy and Chester Rampy and brother, David. Steve is survived and missed deeply by his wife, Angie of Lubbock; daughter Amanda Griffin (Todd) and grandsons Tyler and Conor of Krum; stepdaughter Vanessa Gollaher of Hoboken, NJ; aunts Avonne Jacobson of Dallas and Nollie Rampy of Lubbock; special cousins Kaye Srader and family of Dallas and Paul Rampy of Lubbock., as well as an extended family in Texas and Ohio. Specials thanks for kindness and care to Doctor Chanda Dihenia, nurse Christie Bond; Doctor Elias Ghandour; Doctor Ibrahim Shalaby; Doctor Harold Smith; Doctor Paul Anderson; Doctor Mark Johnson; Doctor Melanie Oblender and special nurses from Joe Arrington Cancer Center, Veronica Young, Patsy Cardona, Candace McNutt, Josie Castro, and Sally Castillo.

Visitation at Resthaven Funeral Home, October 3 from 1-3pm and 6-8pm with the rosary at 7pm, Resthaven Chapel. Funeral services to be held at St. John Neumann on October 4, 10am. Burial to be in Dover, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. John Neumann Building Fund and Catholic Charities are appreciated.
