Celebration of life services for Stephen Ray “Spiffy” Sandlin, 58, of Lubbock, will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Jan 27, 2011, in Resthaven’s Abbey Chapel. Private interment will follow at Resthaven. He passed away on Monday, Jan 24th.
Steve was born on Feb 17, 1952 in Lubbock, to Peggy and Ray T. Sandlin, Jr. He graduated from Lubbock High School and was a life long resident of Lubbock.
While attending the University of Texas Steve served as a member of Governor Preston Smith’s staff. He was a master plumber, owning and operating Sandlin Plumbing in Brownfield where he also served on the City Council. He held a private pilot’s license and was an avid member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, Jalain; two sons, Sean Sandlin, Josh Sandlin and wife Anna; his mother, Peggy Robbins; his mother-in-law, Reba Matthews; two granddaughters, Haley and Sydnie; a sister, Susan McIntire Dillon and husband Larry; numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday, from 10 a.m. til 8 p.m. The family suggests memorials to the South Plains Wildlife Rehab or a favorite charity.
