Grandmother, Dad, Aunt Robin and all who have been touched by Granddaddy’s life, 
Growing up, at times, I would think about one day losing Granddaddy, and the thought would always make me sad.  Now that the time has come that we no longer have him with us, I have been surprised by my emotions.  Mostly my emotions have been that of joy and thankfulness.  Granddaddy lived such a good long life and finished well with a positive, thankful attitude facing each day with courage even to the end.  After reading Mrs. Holland’s post, another reason occurred to me why I do not feel as much loss as I had expected to feel, and that is because I see Granddaddy’s influence in all of our lives - so in a way, he is still with us. Not once did Granddaddy tell me what decisions to make, but many times he and Grandmother have been in the back of my mind as I make decisions, wanting to make them proud by living well.  Dad, I know that Granddaddy has shaped so much of the person you are and you have shaped the person that I am. I am so thankful to God for your influence, and spoken and unspoken guidance in my life.
Granddaddy was a godly man displaying all the fruits of the spirit: “… the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.”  (Ephesians 5:22-24) From reading the list of the fruits, it is obvious that Granddaddy belongs to Jesus Christ and I have confidence that Granddaddy is with Him in complete and perfect peace today and always.  I walked away from Granddaddy’s memorial, encouraged again to live a life like Granddaddy, overflowing with love and gratitude, displaying the fruits of the Spirit by surrendering to Christ in all things. 
I am joyful because I know Granddaddy is with the Lord, and I am thankful to God for the legacy that He has given our family in Granddaddy.

Pat, You and Robert were always special to Raymond and me and we loved you both since the day we met.  Raymond and I had so much respect for both of you.My prayers and thoughts are with you and your fine family.  This world was a much better place because of Robert.

Hello dear friends, 


You need to know what an impact you had on my early life as a child and later in my career. Your family was so gracious and kind - living as the Lord has instructed us to live. I remember Robert Hall from my childhood days when Patsy and Robert Hall and children Robin and Dick attended the same church that our family attended. I remember how straight and tall he stood at the communion table in his pin-striped suit and gave the prayer before communion each and every Sunday. He was a good, gentle man caring for and always helping others. I remember teaching Robin in Sunday School and Dick being so much the gentle and friendly man that his father was. My gain was the joy of teaching Stacy and Dub in Earth Science and seeing the kindness and gentleness of his inheritance to them; my loss was not knowing Dick's children - they must be great people just as their father and grandfather. Patsy, I remember the last time I saw you was at Stacy's shower - so gracious and sweet. It is a great loss when we lose leaders such as Robert Hall, but the gift that he gave his family and the others who admired him will always be remembered. Love to all he left behind - may the Lord bless and keep you always and comfort you.

My heartfelt condolences to the family, and Dick especially. I worked for Robert Hall Davis back in 1979. Before, during and after the time I worked for him, he was nice and friendly and treated me like he knew me forever.
