Funeral services for Ralph A. George will be at Highland Baptist Church at 2:00 PM on Friday, February 23rd. Burial service will take place immediately following at Resthaven Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday, February 22nd at Resthaven from the hours of 5:00–7:00 PM. Ralph died February, 17th 2018 in Lubbock at age 83. He was born in Littlefield to Roy Robert George and Ovie Lee Bates George. He was proceeded in death by both parents and a sister, Anita Hall.
Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Donivee George; daughters: Christi Turner and husband Dr. Matthew Turner of Dalhart; and daughter Landa Dixon and her husband Keith Dixon of Lubbock. He is also survived by his eight grandchildren: Scotty Turner (and wife Sarah), Michael Turner, Nicholas Turner (and wife Michelle), Elissa Turner, Benjamin Turner, Elliot Dixon, Asher Dixon, and Hayes Dixon. Other survivors are brother, Robert George of Slaton (wife Brenda) and a sister LaVerne Gresham of Springfield, OR.
Ralph graduated from Bula High School and earned a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree from Texas Tech. He served in the U.S. Army in Germany during the 1950s. He was a teacher and counselor for many years. He taught one year at Bula High School. The rest of his career was in L.I.S.D. where he taught science at Atkins Junior High and Estacado High School. He then became a high school counselor and served at Estacado High School until his retirement in 1996.
Ralph was a member of Highland Baptist Church and had been a Christian since he was 15 years old. He will be remembered as a friend to many and as a kind, caring person who offered encouragement to others, as well as the loving example of Christ as a husband, father, and grandfather.
