On September 30, 2022, we lost our beloved wife, mother, mother in-law, sister, aunt, nana and friend due to Covid pneumonia. She was freed from her pain and went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Peggy was born to W.H. and Ethel Nelson November 26, 1940 in Becton, Texas. On August 6, 1955, she married the love of her life, Barry Boyd. They had been married 68 years.
Most of Peggy’s adult life was spent as a homemaker and raising 3 children. Once the kids were grown, she owned and operated Aloha Tan and Nail for 3 years. Her hobbies and interests included Texas Tech women’s basketball, crafts, traveling and game night with friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents W.H. and Ethel Nelson, Brother T. E. Nelson and wife Wanda, Sister Freddie Buchanan and husband Frank, nephew and niece, Terry and Leslie Buchanan and nephew Eddy Nelson.
Peggy is survived by her loving husband Barry, son Shane Boyd of Slaton, Trace Boyd of Dallas and Kristi and husband Kent of Lubbock, grandson Cody, granddaughter Ashtyn and 4 great grandchildren Carter, Cayleigh, Salem and Calli all of Lubbock, numerous nieces and nephews and best friend Arlene Fleeman of Lubbock.
A celebration of life will be held Wednesday October 5, 2022 at 2:00 pm at Southcrest Baptist Church 3801 S. Loop 289.
Memorials can be made to South Plains Food Bank, Meals on Wheels and Southcrest Baptist Building Fund or charity of your choice.
