Montez Holmes Ray, of Lubbock, passed away at Lubbock Health Care on Friday, August 17, 2018. Graveside services will be Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at 2:30 pm at Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park in Woodrow.
Mrs. Ray was born February 9, 1922 in Turkey, Texas to the late Henry and Myrtle Holmes.
She moved to Lubbock as a small child and attended Lubbock public schools. She married Glen Akard January 21, 1942 in Lubbock. He was the father of her two sons. She was an LVN at West Texas Hospital. Mrs. Ray enjoyed her family and home and was an avid animal lover. She married Charlie Ray in Clovis, New Mexico, January 7, 1955. They had over 57 happy years together.
Survivors include her daughter-in-law, Rebecca Akard of Lubbock, one grandson, Chass Akard, and his wife Marci Akard of Lubbock, three great grandchildren, Christian Akard, Sean Akard, and Lauren Akard.
Those proceeding her in death are her husband, Charlie E Ray, an infant son, Rodney Akard, a son, Ric Akard, a sister, Jewell Keith and four brothers, Keith Holmes, Buster Holmes, Allen Holmes and Scottie Holmes. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive her.
