Margaret Pappas, 87, of Lubbock, Texas passed away on December 21, 2015 after a long life. She is a beloved mother and grandmother. Margaret was born on April 13, 1928 to Alexander and Hilda MacMurdo in Springfield, Ill.
Margaret graduated from Rush Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing in Chicago in 1949. She eventually moved to Lubbock and raised 4 children. She was involved in their activities before she went back to nursing. She worked for many years as a R.N. at Methodist Hospital, where she specialized in enterostomal therapy and wound care. She instructed many nursing students during her years there. She was a tireless volunteer to many organizations here in Lubbock. She spent much time volunteering at Westminster Presbyterian Church. Margaret received many honors for all of her work.
Margaret was an excellent seamstress and baker; famous for the cookies she made. She was loved by all who knew her. She will be missed by her family: Doug Pappas and his children John Michael (Lindsey), Melissa, and Laura; Chris Pappas (Kira Kairova); Mary Pappas and her children Matthew Lopez (Tania) Valerie (David) Frishman and their children Dylan, Zachary, Emma; Gloria Paraskeva and her children Theo and Maggie. Survivors also include her sisters Dorothy Sternaman, Sandra Kays, Eleanor Morelock, and Nancy Gibb. She is preceded in death by her sister Betty Stokowski, and her brothers, Paul and Gavin MacMurdo.
