Lena Richerson

Visitation will be held on Monday, November 5, 2012 from 6 to 8 PM at Resthaven Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be at Resthaven Abbey Chapel on Tuesday, November 6, 2012 at 2:00 PM with burial to follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.

Lena was born in Hugo, OK on June 30, 1908. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Elizabeth Seale, sisters, Zora, Ora and Ruby and husband, Spurgeon Eldridge Richerson.

She lived a number of years in Frederick, OK before moving to Lubbock on February 14, 1927, where she lived most of the rest of her life. She graduated from Lubbock High School in 1927 and married James Oliver Murphy in 1928. They had one daughter, Betty Jim Heald. She was born to them July 16, 1933. After her husband passed away in 1939, Lena attended a business college and afterwards attended and graduated from a beauty school. She later owned and operated a beauty salon in Lubbock. She later sold her beauty salon and married Spurgeon Richerson April 25, 1948. They lived in Lubbock most of their 40 years of marriage. Lena is a member of Lake Ridge Baptist Church.

She is survived by her daughter, Betty and husband, Austin Heald, stepson, Bruce Richerson; five grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren.
