Keith Lloyd Anderson, 70, loving husband and father, passed from our lives on Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2013. Services will be on Sept. 27, at 1 p.m. in the Abbey Chapel at Resthaven Funeral Home with Andrew Garcia officiating. Interment will be in the Resthaven Cemetery. His family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 26, 2013, at the funeral home.
Keith was born on June 26, 1943, in Amarillo, Texas, to Duane and Majesta Shearer Anderson. He married Mary Jane Nixon on Nov. 13, 1964, in Wichita Falls, Texas. He received his bachelor of science in Education from Midwestern University in Wichita Falls. He received his master's degree in Education from Texas Tech University. He was a teacher for several years and owned and operated Anderson and Associates Insurance Agency until his retirement. He enjoyed hot air ballooning, owning his own balloon. He was involved in Boy Scouts of America. As a boy, he received the Arrow of Light, God and Country, and was an Eagle Scout. He served as a Scout Master at Oakwood Methodist Church for several years. He took his troop to Philmont at two different times. He earned his Woodbadge at Camp Post. In his early adult life, he was a member of the Jaycees, later becoming a JCI Senator. He was also active in Kiwanis in his later life when he received his Hixon Award. He especially enjoyed the time that he spent as a docent for the Silent Wings Museum.
Keith was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Lynn and Kim Anderson. Keith is survived by his wife, Mary; two daughters, Dana Stanfield and husband Nathan of Dimmitt, Denise Anderson of North Richland Hills; and a son, Daryl L. Anderson and wife Michelle of Eagle, Colo. He had five grandchildren, Dirk Stanfield of Kennesaw, Ga., Dallas Stanfield of Arlington, Kylee Melson and husband Jesse of Canyon, Keithlynn Silvas of Denton, and Madelynn Anderson of Eagle, Colo. He is also survived by two sisters, Siri Hairell of Wichita Falls, and Beret Gilbert and husband Bruce of Keller; two nephews, Laith and Kieren Hairell; and three nieces, Kandace Beavers and husband Josh, Erica Poff and husband Ben of Keller, and Disa Hairell of Wichita Falls.
The family suggests memorials to the National Eagle Scout Association, Boy Scouts of America, 1325 W. Walnut Hill Lane, Irving, TX, 75015; Kiwanis International, 2626 Woodland Trace Indianapolis, IN, 46268; or Silent Wings Museum, Lubbock, Texas.
