Tragically, on October 5th, 1980, Jerry a DPS officer was killed in the line of duty. On May 19, 1998, after. 55 years of marriage, her husband J.D. died. Her brother Darius precede her in death also. Joyce is survived by several nieces and nephews.
Through life's tough lessons Joyce remained a strong Christian lady, also fun loving and quick witted. She loved music, Elvis, and traveling.
Joyce was a "mom" to many of her nieces and nephews throughout the years, they described her as caring, giving, and always there for them, enhancing their lives immeasurably. Joyce lived her life as God's true meaning of what a Proverbs 31 woman would live.
