Daring ranger and magnificent bard, Joshua ( Josh) West Dean (23), embarked on his final and greatest adventure on the 15th day of May, 2023. His expertise in walking the wilds and defending the innocent from the monsters within them was required in another realm, and so he heeded the call. While his time traversing this earth and defending its peoples from the evils that haunt it was short, it was not wasted as he imparted his knowledge and wisdom to the next generation of adventurers at Lubbock-Cooper West Elementary School and the YWCA.
Part of a mighty band of warriors, mystics, and rangers, Josh and his fellows roamed the forest to hone their skills. Josh was known largely for his exquisite skill and talent with short swords, longbows, and poetic storytelling. He had a flair for performance and a gift for song performing karaoke for his beast companions often while spreading joy wherever and whenever possible. Skills such as his can never be forgotten, nor can his grand adventures.
Born to loving parents on the 24th day of April, in the year of our Lord 2000, Josh came into this world in Jacksonville, North Carolina. As he departs on this new adventure, he leaves behind many beloved family members. Among them were his stoic but loving mother, Trish Beres, and honorable stepfather Joseph Beres of Lubbock, Texas. His father, Matthew Dean the soldier; his sisters Dannielle Dean the wise druid, Sammaria Beres the artist, and Evangelique Beres the quiet maiden of Lubbock, Texas; and his wise grandparents Virginia Moore, JD Moore, Verna and Thomas Dean, and Theresa and Jim Beres, of Lubbock, Texas. To these, he entrusts the care of the many beast companions that accompanied him on his adventures and aided him in his victories here in this realm.
Let us remember and honor our distinguished and noble ranger at 10:00 AM on the 22nd day of May 2023 at The Abbey Chapel at Resthaven Funeral Home & Memorial Park at 5740 19th Street.
In lieu of flowers, Joshua would have preferred a donation to the South Plains Wildlife Rehabilitation Center https://www. spwrc.org/
Lay down your bow, fair traveler. Your fight has ended now, and your loved ones are protected. Sail into that fair horizon, you have earned your rest.
