Joan Raley Sanders was born August 15th, 1936 in Galveston, TX. She had an identical twin sister Juanita “Skeet” Harrington. Joan was a staunch protector of her younger sister! Joan passed away on May 14th, 2022.
Joan attended West Texas State in Canyon where she received her bachelor’s and master’s degree in education. She taught school for over 30 years. She was a lifelong member of the Methodist Church. Joan loved traveling, especially with the ladies from the bank.
She married Joe V. Sanders on November 25th, 1987 and they remained married until her passing.
Survivors include her husband; three sons, Ricky Van Collingsworth and wife Cindy of Amarillo, TX, David Cary Collingsworth and wife Rhonda of Memphis, TX, and James Cameron Collingsworth and wife Angie of Frisco TX. Her children by marriage are Cindy Holcomb of Lubbock and Scott Sanders of Lorenzo. Joan had thirteen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Saturday, May 21, 2022 at Resthaven from 12:00-1:00, followed by the memorial service at 1:00.
