Jimmy Ray Janes, 77, of Blevins Rd., Artesia, N.M. passed away Monday, July 12, 2010 at Covenant Medical Center, Lubbock, TX. There will be no visitation cremation has taken place. A celebration of Jimmy’s life is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, July 17, 2010 at First Baptist church in Artesia with Pastor Rick Sullivan and Jimmy’s brother-in-law, Ron Rogers officiating. Resthaven Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements
Jimmy R Janes was born Dec. 5, 1932 in the house at 702 N. Main, Carlsbad, N.M. to Johnathan and Ruby (Hudson) Janes. Jimmy was a 1951 graduate of Carlsbad High School.Jimmy lived in Carlsbad for many years working for IMCC and PCA retiring after 30 years. Jimmy and Oda Lee Carlo were married February, 25, 1983 in Carlsbad. Jimmy loved his family and supported them in every way throughout the years. He was active in National Little League, Camp Fire Inc and many other civic organizations.
Jimmy never missed a ball game, dance program or piano recital his children were participating in. He was absolutely devoted to his Family in everything they were involved in. His children and grand kids were the joy of his life and he loved to hunt and fish with them. You could always see Jimmy Janes at Cavemen football games in his bright colored patchwork pants yelling “Go Blue’. Jimmy was a very talented carpenter, builder and wood carver owning and operating his own construction business for several years. Where ever you met Jimmy it was a pleasure to carry on a conversation with him. Jimmy will be missed but never forgotten by all who surrounded him.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his first wife Jan Dean Hood, Sister Francis Gamel, Brother Gene Janes, Grand daughters Paula Jan Barnett, Jessica Rae Janes, Grand Son Landon Livingston, Brother-in-law John Gamel and Son-in-Law Jimmie Curtis Pope
Jimmy is survived by his wife Oda Lee of the family home, sister Cleone Spencer (Meritt) of Kerrville, TX.; Sons, Jimmy D. Janes (Debbie) Carlsbad; and Jimmy Carlo (Yvonne) of Artesia. Daughters Kenni Barnett (Lanny) and Mary Pope of Carlsbad: Janet Li-vingston (Robert) of Artesia. Grand daughters Keri Brown (Phillip), Kayla Barnett, Jamie Pope, Becky Beard (Matt) of Carlsbad, Krissi Samuels (Steven) Lubbock, TX, Carrie Noble, Marcie Carlo, Mandi Morillon (Marcos) and Lisa Brooker (Clayton) of Artesia. Grand sons, Jed Janes and John Janes of Carlsbad, Monty Jim Carlo, Joe Carlo (Jawna), and Lee Livingston (Florence) of Artesia, and 17 Great Grand Children.
