Celebration of Life Services for Jerry Don Banks 78, of Lubbock will be held at 2 P.M. Saturday, August 18, 2018 at Resthaven’s Abbey Chapel. Visitation will begin one hour prior to service. Jerry passed from this life Sunday, August 12, 2018 in Lubbock. He was born September 6, 1939 in Lubbock, Texas to the late W.I. and Lorene Banks. He married Beverly Ann Hill, December 23, 1962 in Lubbock, Texas.
Graduated from Texas Tech University with a Master’s Degree in Music Education and Accounting. While attending Texas Tech he was a proud member of the Goin’ Band From Raiderland. Jerry’s passion was music and he served as a band director in several West Texas cities including Idalou, Lorenzo, Stanton, Knox City, and Midland. He served as director of the Lubbock Chapter of Barbershop singers for many years. Jerry had a second career as a CPA for Lubbock Radiology for over 20 years. Music was his first love but being a CPA paid the bills. Jerry’s was also an avid Golfer and a faithful member of the Barnes and Noble Coffee Gang.
Jerry was predeceased by his parents, wife, Beverly and a sister, Barbara Bradford.
Those left to honor and cherish Jerry’s memory are his daughter, Cindy Wright and husband, Keanan, son, Richard Banks and wife, Yvette; grandchildren, Philip Wright and wife Cassie, Cory Wright and wife, Tiffanie, Sara Wright, Tiffany Fuqua and husband, Ryan, Taylor Allen and husband Tim; great grandchildren, Lily Wright and Tatum Fuqua; 4 nephews and a host of friends.
