

Janice Ray Bell Brumley, 76, of Lubbock, Texas, passed away suddenly in her home on December 14, 2024. Janice was born in Sweetwater, Texas, to L.T. Bell and Jessie Ray Bell on July 7, 1948. She attended Monterey High School and graduated in 1966. Janice was a member of the purchasing management at Texas Tech for 40 years. In 2010, Janice was one of four awarded the Top Texan Award for her hard work, dedication, and genuine Red Raider enthusiasm. She retired in 2016.
Janice loved her family. She enjoyed keeping in touch with many family members. She was very interested in her niece and nephews and always wanted updates on their lives. She was a loving daughter that cared for her mother, Jessie Ray, in her last years. She also loved animals of all types. As a young child, she often brought animals to the house stating they were lost and needed a home. In most cases, they were our neighbors’ pets. Later in life, her faithful Australian shepherds, Blue and Bandit, brought her many years of happiness. Janice had many friends and was a member of several bowling leagues. She enjoyed traveling and even took up sewing and made several quilts.
Janice is survived by brother, Tommy, and sister, Sandi Harjes and husband, Chuck, niece Christi Pickney, nephew Ian Haynes, nephews, Andrew Harjes, Brad Harjes, and Cameron Harjes and wife Torrie. Janice was preceded in death by husband, Michael Franks, and husband, Don Brumley.
