Jamie Lynn Ibrahim was born June 14, 1934, in Knox City TX to Lester Hudson Stevenson and Mary Allen Stevenson. During her childhood, she lived in Denton TX and Dallas TX. As a young adult she lived in the San Francisco Bay, San Jose, and Oakland California area. Jamie has been a resident of Lubbock TX since her marriage in 1978 to Maher Ibrahim who preceded her in death.
Jamie loved to crochet and made hundreds of newborn gowns, winter caps, gloves and scarves that were all donated to RSVP to be given to those in need. She made Afghans that Maher would help her piece together to make sure they looked perfect! She taught her friend Karen how to crochet and that was quiet a lesson in patience for Jamie. Her other favorite hobby was working on Sudoku puzzles. She would enjoy having a Coke and working Sudoku in the evening rather than watching TV.
Jamie’s special companion was her beloved kitty, MishMish. He was always by her side and let her know when she was not giving him all of her attention. MishMish came into Jamie and Maher’s yard one day around 18 years ago and has never left her sight. MishMish now has a new home with Chris and Jamie would be very happy to know that he is loved and safe.
Jamie obtained her insurance claims adjuster license and worked for Texas Employers Insurance until her retirement.
She is survived by her brother Don Stevenson and his wife, Sharon of Dallas TX and her sister Betty Quillen of Richardson TX, her son in law John Givens of Prescott, AZ and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Maher Ibrahim, her mother and father, her daughter Debra Givens, and her sisters Mary Belle Faver, Mildred Burns, and Barbara Jo Luper.
Jamie was loved by all who knew her but especially by her neighbors Karen, Larry and Jeremy Mathis, Hannah Tipps, Marti and Russ Wallace, and Laurie Foster.
Thank you to the residents and staff of Brookdale Grand Court for providing Jamie and MishMish with a safe home and many beloved friends who Jamie considered family; Polly Grice and “The Boys” Robbie and Kyle, Francis, Kay, Jean, Paul and Natalie.
Thanks to Hospice of the South Plains for the caring support and love shown to Jamie during this difficult time.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to The Haven Animal shelter or your favorite animal shelter in honor of MishMish.
