Jim was born in Fort Worth, TX on June 25, 1948 and graduated from Coronado High School in Lubbock, TX. A veteran of the Vietnam war, he proudly served as a Navy Seabee, and later went to work at the family business, Sullivan Crane and Rigging, from which he retired after 52 years. Jim was an avid fisherman and hunter, enjoyed traveling in his RV, and collecting classic cars and hotrods. He was a longtime member of the Moose Lodge in Hobbs, NM, a member of the NRA, and was known by his friends and family as a prankster at times, a little bit stubborn, with a heart for his country and those who serve. He was best known, however, as a hard-working man who loved his family more than anything.
Jim is the son of Nalda and the late Roy Eugene (Gene) Sullivan, Sr. and brother to Roy Sullivan of Hobbs, NM and his wife Toni and Kaye Hester of Ingleside, TX and her husband Les. Jim is survived by his loving wife, Vickie, and children: Beverly Carroll of Midland, TX and her husband, Chris, Sandra Sullivan of Casa Grande, AZ and Mikha Hampton of Sayer, OK, as well as stepsons: TJ Biggs of Hereford, TX and his wife, Trina; Lee Biggs of Lubbock, TX and his wife, Karrie; and Monty Biggs of Midland, TX and his wife, Brittain. He also had twelve loving grandchildren: Reese, Matthew, Kanin, Colt, John Michael, Lauren and husband Ian, Tate, Rylee and husband Leo, Carter, Karlee, Lincoln, and Augie.
He will be laid to rest in a private family service at Prairie Haven Cemetery in Hobbs, NM. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made in Jim’s name to the PTSD Foundation of America or other Veteran Organizations.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.resthavenfuneralhome.com for the Sullivan family.
