James Boss Davis of Lubbock passed away June 7, 2012 at the age of 91. He was born to William Cullen and Margaret Mae (Turner) Davis in Yarnaby, Oklahoma on November 7, 1920. He moved to Lubbock in 1947 and worked until his retirement as a construction superintendent. Boss was a charter member of Trinity Church.
Celebration of Life services will be held at 11, am, Monday, June 11, 2012 in Resthaven’s Abbey Chapel with Pastor David Eppler and Dr. Morris Sheats officiating. Interment will follow at Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 pm, Sunday, June 10, 2012 at Resthaven Funeral Home.
Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Thelma Stallings and husband, Bill, Danny Davis and wife, Sandra, Ethel (Sissie) Garrett and Edith Tillery, as well as 13 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lena Ruth (Stewart) Davis, grandson, Brady Wheatley and 5 members of his family that were killed in the May 11, 1970, tornado, daughter, June Medlin and husband, Kenneth, son-in-law, Joe Garrett and 2 grandchildren, Alan Medlin and Dustin Medlin. Also preceding him in death were one brother, William Earl (Buck) Rankin and 10 sisters, Ruth Hamby, Willie Page, Frances Seale, Fae Stewart, Christine Cunningham, Jane Stewart, Martha Townsend, Betty Harrison, Johnnie Townsend and Cindy Junell.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Lonny Garrett, Kenneth and Dillon Elkins, Allen and Joe Garrett and Darren Campbell.
