Hartsfield of Austin, assisted by Dr D L Lowrie and Rev John Ballard of Lubbock, will conduct the services.
Mr. Kiker was born on February 19, 1915 in Green’s Creek Community in Erath County
to Lieutenant Grover Kiker and Naoma Myrtle (Snively) Kiker. He grew up in the community and married Mary Wynell Self of nearby Dublin TX on August 9, 1936. They had two children,
Judy Gail (Kiker) Auten and Hubert “Bert” Lester Kiker Jr. Mrs. Kiker preceded her husband in death on May 19, 1969. Mr. Kiker later married Ruby Lee (Cassel) Alexander of Lubbock TX on
Nov 13, 1971. She also preceded Mr. Kiker in death on March 6, 1995.
Mr. Kiker was preceded in death by his parents, his two wives and one grandson, Jason Robert Auten.
Mr. Kiker is survived by his sister, Mary Louise (Kiker) Jones of Stephenville TX; by his daughter, Judy Auten and husband, Jimmie of Copperas Cove TX; by his son, Bert Kiker and wife, Georgianna, of Azle TX; his step-daughter, Pamela Hayes and husband, Roger of Seguin
TX; three grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; and two step-great-great-grandchildren.
Mr. Kiker graduated from Dublin High School and attended Tarleton Junior College in Stephenville. He was ordained and served as a deacon in several Southern Baptist Churches for over 50 years until he was given the honor of Deacon Emeritus by First Baptist Church, Lubbock in 1998. He also volunteered in children’s ministry and church media ministry for over 50 years.
Mr. Kiker worked more than 30 years in the automobile industry, first as a highly skilled service technician, then as a regional service technician for Chrysler Corporation and finally as a successful new car sales representative for Fenner Tubbs Chrysler-Plymouth in Lubbock. After Mr. Kiker retired in 1981, he and his wife, Ruby, traveled extensively throughout the US, Canada and Mexico. Mr. Kiker also traveled in several countries in Europe and on the island of Guam. He made two mission trips to Santa Domingo where he did construction work on an orphanage for deaf children in 1993 and 1994.
Visitation is from 6 to 8 pm on Monday, June 18, at Resthaven Funeral Home in
Lubbock. The family requests that friends consider giving money for Bibles to Gideons
