Services for Elvira Sarmiento Franco, 75, of Lubbock, will be hold at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 8th, at her home church, Christ The King Cathedral. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Resthaven from 5-6 p.m. on Friday, with a Rosary beginning at 6 p.m.
Mrs. Franco passed away on May 5th, with family by her side in Lubbock.
She was born Jan. 28, 1935 in Big Spring. She married her "Corazon" Porfirio G. Franco, Dec. 17, 1955. Elvira enjoyed life and lived it to the fullest and loved all her children and grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will always be remember as everyone's "Mom". Her biggest joy was helping those in need, she was our little angel on earth. She retired from Montgomery Ward, but still enjoyed being around people and sharing stories with anyone who would lend an ear.
She is preceded in death by her husband and a sister Connie Vargas.
Those left to cherish her memory are four sisters, Esperanza Trejo of El Paso, Socorro Talamantes of Farmersville, CA, Teresa Trevino of Lubbock, Margarita Vargas, of Port Hueneme, CA; two brothers, Salvador Sarmiento, of Austin and Melecio Sarmiento of Big Spring; two sons Robert Franco and wife Jessie, Bobby Franco and wife Jamie of Lubbock; three daughters Velma Franco, andYolanda Clay, both of Lubbock, and Rosemary Parmley and husband Jim of Edmon, OK; eight grandchildren, Jacob, Tasha ,and Meagan Franco,Case,and Calin Clay, Lauren, Dylan and Christen Parmley and three great-grandchildren, Lyliana, Isabella, and Justin Franco.
