Elsie Faye Jones

Elsie was born on May 18, 1940 in Bonham, Texas to John and Bessie Withers. She married Alton Jones January 23, 1970 in Lubbock, Texas. She was a long time cashier and assistant manager of the Red Carpet Car Wash and a receptionist with Sodexo Inc. with the Lubbock Independent School District. She was a long time member of the Quaker Ave Missionary Baptist Church, and was active in the woman’s ministry where she would spend her time visiting families and assisting with their needs.

She is survived by her husband, Alton Jones, 3 sons, Kelly Lynn Hicks, Larry Shawn Jones and Clayton Wayne Jones, 2 sisters, Vena Mae Taylor, and Betty Holland, 3 brothers, Johnny, Bobby and Paul Withers, 8 Grandchildren abd 4 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Monday, September 13 from 6-8 pm at Resthaven Funeral and a funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 14, 2010 at 10:00 am at Resthaven’s Abbey Chapel, with burial to follow in Resthaven Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to be made in the name of Elsie Faye Jones to the youth group of Quaker Ave Missionary Baptist Church.
