Dorothy Johnson died May 18, 2012 in Lubbock at the age of 88. She was born November 1, 1923 in Racine, Wisconsin to Christ and Louise Christensen. She was reared by her aunt and uncle, Hart and Tracy Webb of Kenosha, Wisconsin. Dorothy graduated from Kenosha High School in 1942. After high school she attended Milwaukee County Hospital School of Nursing in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin where she became a Registered Nurse and specialized in pediatrics.
Dorothy married Dr Clark Johnson in 1953 and they made their home in Sweetwater for 22 years were Clark had an active medical practice. Dorothy was a devoted Christian and taught Sunday School for many years. Clark and Dorothy moved to Lubbock, Texas in 1975 where she was active in the auxiliaries at Methodist and St. Mary’s Hospitals for many years. She loved her role as a wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed knitting, bird watching, growing roses, working crossword puzzles and reading. She was a member of Westmont Christian Church for many years.
Survivors include her children and their spouses, Craig and Nancy Johnson of Sweetwater, Texas, Mary and Steve Moore of El Paso, Texas and Bruce and Madonna Johnson of Austin, Texas. Also seven grandchildren, Katie, Christopher, and Carly Johnson, Robert, Katie Moore-Cisneros (husband, Jacob Cisneros) and Karen Moore, and Kristen Johnson. She has a great-grandson, Efren Cisneros.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her beloved husband Clark, her parents, and two sisters, Merle Pavelick and Juanita Lenart.
A memorial service will be held at Westmont Christian Church, Tuesday May 22, 2012 at 2:00 pm with a family visitation to follow the service. Memorials may be made to charity of your choice.
