Donald Searsy, of Lubbock passed away Friday, January 12, 2024. He was born in Lubbock County to Clay and Ada Searsy. He attended Roosevelt School where he graduated in 1949. He married La Fern Eubank in 1952 while serving our Country in the US Navy. After his Naval service, Donald and Fern moved to Ralls where Donald began a farming career. They had two children. Their son Chris, passed away in 1982. Fern passed away in 1998.
Donald served as an elder for the Emma Church of Christ and led singing there for many years. He retired from farming in 1994. After his move to Lubbock, he became a member of Sunset Church of Christ.
After Fern's passing, he met and married Betty Berryhill. Donald and Betty enjoyed traveling and getting together with friends to play games up until Betty’s passing in 2018.
Donald is survived by his daughter, Paula and her husband Paul Verstegen, grandchildren Jeremy Verstegn, and Sarah Verstegen, Betty's children Jamie Berryhill and his wife Renda, Mark Berryhill, Nancy and her husband James Halfacre, 10 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, Fern's brother, Dr. Glenn Eubank and his wife Clarice, Fern’s sister, Frances and her husband Dr. Deuon Baker, Betty's sister, Wanda Jean, brother-in-law, Billy Wayne Garrett, and sister-in-law Sandra Searsy. Donald was preceded in death by 4 brothers, Hubert, Lee (Bo), Eugene, Durwood (Bobo), and one sister Roxie.
Donald was a kind and loving man who will be missed by family and friends. A graveside committal service with military honors will be held Friday January 19, 2024 at 10:30 AM, at Resthaven Memorial Park, 5740 19th St, Lubbock. Texas.
