I wish I could have seen the future and knew it was coming in advance so I could ask God to reconsider and give you more time. However,I was not given that insight. Peace forevermore. I was a fellow carrier of the AJ. Debra delivered papers when I was short. She was always upbeat and pleasant. She always helped me with a smile in her voice. Everyone who knew her misses her. She was delightful. I am so sorry for your loss, what a shock, but I agree that we will see her again one day.  May God bless you all.

I was so saddened to see your mother's name and photo in the Avalanche-Journal and was particularly shocked as I thought the paper was there because she had delivered it.
I don't believe I ever met your mother but I have a strong image--and sometimes as an early riser I would catch sight--of her whipping around the cul-de-sac and throwing the paper with her "strong left arm," the sight of which was then followed by the plop sound of the paper hitting the ground.  I knew then that the morning had begun.
I remember that a couple years ago you stayed home for an extended time to take care of her when she was sick.  I know you must have had a close relationship and that this is a very difficult change for you and your family.  I hope with time the good memories will help to fill the void.  I know they will.

Debra was a joy to work with.  Always smiling and always had something nice to say.  She will be missed by all of the people that she came into contact with.  My thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends.

I was blessed to speak with my sister a couple of times before her hospitalization, not knowing it would be the last time we spoke, “I love you” here on earth.  And not knowing that soon thereafter I would get to be part of an ongoing barrage of persevering prayers by so many, entreating our heavenly Father to spare Deb this time.  I am thankful the Lord, in His grace allowed us all to participate in this worthy endeavor and to see that He was in control and providing everything and everyone medically available for her recovery, but her recovery here on earth was not to be.
Although it doesn’t make sense in my human wisdom for God to take my younger sibling before me, I know from His Word that because of her faith in Christ (Jn. 3:16) my sister has been promoted, victorious, and is now at home and in His hands (II Cor. 5:8.)  I am happy for her, and just a little envious, too.
I am proud to have had a sister who was needed and depended upon by so many, because this speaks highly of her dedication, hard work, commitment, and loyalty to others.  She will be missed by so many – but I am comforted we will see her again.

Debbie is my niece ,my only sisters daughter.I met her for the first time when she was 10 and I was 20.My Mom,her grandmother visited  my sister and her family in 1970.She was a sweet little girl.We visited several times after that with my daughters.We were welcomed and felt like family even though we lived thousands of miles away in Canada.She was a lovely friendly girl and woman.              
Mark, Tiffany and Clark please accept my sincere condolences atbthis sad and difficult time.As well condolences to David,Mark and Steven and their families.Love Aunt Sandra.

Debra was a good neighbor and friend. We miss her smile and her words of wisdom. I am better because our paths crossed. She ended every conversation with “If you guys need anything, just let us know.”  She meant it.

Debra was a real spit fire from the first time I met her and never let that fire go! She spoke her mind and at the same time that wonderful smile shown  and couldn't be ignored I wil miss her and the wonderful impact she had on everyone who came across her path.. family I pray for understanding at this time and for comfort

Thank you so much for your letter to the Editor.  I worked with Debra for many years in Circulation/Distribution.  We were also saddened by her untimely passing.  She was one of the absolutely most dedicated, sincere and thoughtful people I have worked with over the past 16 years.  Debra truly had a great heart for serving.  Caring for not only all her customers, and getting to know many, many of them personally, but also the Avalanche-Journal in general.  

She wasn't just solely a carrier, she also checked on delivery consistency in many areas of town and maintained timely delivery and maintenance of the Lubbock Magazine to numerous outlets.  Debra worked tirelessly in her capacity to ensure all subscribers with whom she came into contact (whether her's or another carrier's) had a positive experience.  All this while tirelessly caring for the needs of her husband (Mark), son (Clark), daughter (Tiffany) and grandson (Landon), no matter what all was happening.  She definitely left some big shoes to fill and was a fantastic role model for many to follow.  

Debra will truly be missed, but her spirit for service to others will continue to live on through those who knew her.

We were shocked and dismayed to learn of the unexpected death of Debra Billington. Debra delivered our Avalanche-Journal, without fail, for twenty years. She provided excellent customer service, advising us to call her with any problems or to schedule paper suspensions. We last spoke at Thanksgiving; I am saddened at her passing and feel slightly unmoored.


I am very saddened to hear about your sister, Debra passing.  I had no idea that she was your sister.  She delivered my newspaper for the last 20 years.  She always doubled bagged the newspaper and threw it up against the garage door.   It was always in the same place, except for when someone else threw the paper.  Occasionally, I would call her to report a lost paper.  She would reply, look in the flower bed by the street.  She was always so nice.  She will be missed.  Prayer for strength are being said for you and the family.  Take care Mark.  She is among siblings and her parents.

Mark, Tiffany, Clark and Landon, I am so sorry for the huge loss of the woman you called wife, mom and meme. I am honored to have called her my friend! I have never met anyone as great as Deb! She had such grace and spunk and never took no for an answer! She loved her family more than anything else in this world! Point proven with the night around 11pm Landon texted her asking for Little Debbies, she had them to him by 130am! She laughed so hard she had tears in her eyes because her baby wanted a snack and she said she isn’t going to let him down! That was our Debra, she never let anyone down and would help anyone if they needed it! Debra, I will forever miss you and love you! Thank you for the imprint you have left in our life!

Debra was my carrier for all the time she worked at the AJ. She was faithful to deliver early and regularly. As my health declined, she made sure to try to get the paper in a place where it was easy to pick up. Debra was accessible and responsive each time there was a need to communicate.  Although we never met, I feel the loss of a friend. Please accept my condolences on your loss.
