Cynthia Dean Rively, 83, passed away Tuesday December 26th, 2023 after a short battle with cancer. Cynthia was born August 16, 1940 in Gatesville Texas to Lalla Dean (McBride) Carroll and Wilburn Efton Carroll. Memorial services will be held Thursday December 28th at 10:00 am at Southcrest Baptist Church.
Cynthia graduated from Gatesville High School and continued her education at Tarleton State University and Baylor University. Cynthia was married in 1968 and had two daughters, Nicole and Denise living many years in San Antonio Texas then moving to Lubbock Texas in 1990. Cynthia was a Medical Technologist at UMC for many years. Cynthia was an avid Texas Tech athletics fan, she especially loved traveling to watch the Lady Raiders Basketball team in the 90’s. She loved to travel with her Sunday School Class from Southcrest Baptist Church and mentioned them often. One of her favorite past times was playing games with many groups of friends. She valued each and every friendship and love telling stories about all of their fun times! She loved spending time with her friends going out to eat and laughing. She also loved delivering pies to new church members, visiting church members in nursing homes, gardening, reading, playing computer games, and spending time with her family. She had a more vibrant social life at 83, than the rest of us combined!
Cynthia was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Charles Efton Carroll and two sisters Mary Dell Carroll, and Dr. Helen Ruth Cox. Her beautiful life will forever be cherished by her daughters Nicole (Joe) Ely and Denise Rively, granddaughter Jade (Tanner) Moser, grandson Brayden Ely, and two great granddaughters Thea Moser, Jessa Moser and another sweet great granddaughter on the way in the Spring, and niece Deana Cox.
