Christopher Allen Reed left his earthly home for his eternal one on June 16, 2016, at the age of 54. Christopher was born October 30, 1961 in Memphis, Tennessee to Dr. George B. Reed and Bettye (Sitton) Reed. Both parents preceded him in death.
In his 54 years, Christopher lived in many places including Tennessee, Hawaii, Ohio, Virginia, Texas, North Carolina, and Germany. One of his goals was to visit each of the 50 states, which he completed when he visited Alaska in June 2015.
His interests included computer science, travel and geography, storm chasing, sports, sci-fi, and teaching. Christopher was an eternal optimist, human GPS, and possessed a hearty laugh. Christopher earned bachelor’s degrees in geography and mathematics from Memphis State University, and a master’s in statistics from Texas Tech University.
His employment roles included computer scientist, statistician, application analyst and webmaster for the City of Lubbock, software programmer, and, most recently, online trainer, a job he found very fulfilling.
Christopher’s loves were his God and Savior, his wife of 27 years, Agaytha (Smith) Reed, and his family. He loved his stepdaughters as his own, and was honored to immerse them in baptism, walk each of them down the aisle, and cradle their babies in his arms.
Those left to celebrate his life include his wife, of Lubbock; stepdaughters Hesper Holland and husband, David, of Wolfforth, Erin Aaron and husband, Brandon, of Lubbock, and Lauren Ford and husband, Josh, of Lubbock; as well as the grandchildren he adored, Aria Ford, Cooper Holland, Mattox Holland, Anya Aaron, Kylie Aaron, and Fiona Ford. He is also survived by his brothers, Bruce Reed and wife, Linda, of Memphis, Tennessee, and Clay Reed of Boone, North Carolina, and nieces Jessica (Reed) Love and Rebecca Reed.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Sunset International Bible Institute or the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Online condolences are welcome at www.resthavenfuneralhome.com.
